چکیده

The Mori-Zwanzig formalism is an effective tool to derive differential equations describing the evolution of a small number of resolved variables. In this paper we present its application to the derivation of generalized Langevin equations and generalized non-Markovian Fokker-Planck equations. We show how long time scales rates and metastable basins can be extracted from these equations. Numerical algorithms are proposed to discretize these equations. An important aspect is the numerical solution of the orthogonal dynamics equation which is a partial differential equation in a high dimensional space. We propose efficient numerical methods to solve this orthogonal dynamics equation. In addition, we present a projection formalism of the Mori-Zwanzig type that is applicable to discrete maps. Numerical applications are presented from the field of Hamiltonian systems.

The generalized Langevin equation with Gaussian fluctuations

It is shown that all statistical properties of the generalized Langevin equation with Gaussian fluctuations are determined by a single, two-point correlation function. The resulting description corresponds with a stationary, Gaussian, non-Markovian process. Fokker-Planck-like equations are discussed, and it is explained how they can lead one to the erroneous conclusion that the process is nonst...

Generalized Fokker-Planck equation: Derivation and exact solutions

We derive the generalized Fokker-Planck equation associated with the Langevin equation (in the Ito sense) for an overdamped particle in an external potential driven by multiplicative noise with an arbitrary distribution of the increments of the noise generating process. We explicitly consider this equation for various specific types of noises, including Poisson white noise and Lévy stable noise...

Multivariate Markov processes for stochastic systems with delays: application to the stochastic Gompertz model with delay.

Using the method of steps, we describe stochastic processes with delays in terms of Markov diffusion processes. Thus, multivariate Langevin equations and Fokker-Planck equations are derived for stochastic delay differential equations. Natural, periodic, and reflective boundary conditions are discussed. Both Ito and Stratonovich calculus are used. In particular, our Fokker-Planck approach recove...

A note on the Markov property of stochastic processes described by nonlinear FokkerヨPlanck equations

We study the Markov property of processes described by generalized Fokker–Planck equations that are nonlinear with respect to probability densities such as mean ,eld Fokker–Planck equations and Fokker–Planck equations related to generalized thermostatistics. We show that their transient solutions describe non-Markov processes. In contrast, stationary solutions can describe Markov processes. As ...

Fractional Fokker-Planck equations for subdiffusion with space- and time-dependent forces.

We derive a fractional Fokker-Planck equation for subdiffusion in a general space- and time-dependent force field from power law waiting time continuous time random walks biased by Boltzmann weights. The governing equation is derived from a generalized master equation and is shown to be equivalent to a subordinated stochastic Langevin equation.
